StoneAge Sentinel Link Mobile App

Role: Product Designer

Agency: Viagio Technologies

Project Brief

StoneAge is the world’s leading manufacturer of water blasting tools. Our goal was to completely revamp and pitch an updated app to their primary stakeholders within six weeks.

Research & Analysis

I started by reviewing their existing app today. It had one main feature to connect to the water blasting Sentinel controller and upload report files to the corresponding web app to be viewed. Once I got a better understanding of the existing app, I wanted to get the honest opinions from users and see how they use the app in the field and see what features could potentially enhance their work experience.

Wireframes

After learning about their workflows of connecting to these controllers, I quickly began sketching out some potential concepts and features that’d be beneficial for their day-to-day activities. This was one of my most favorite parts of the project because I got the opportunity to work closely with hardware engineers and designers.

Prototype

I utilized Figma to create and deliver high fidelity clickable prototypes to key stakeholders and engineers for rapid development. These prototypes were extra special because it was so collaborative working with the engineer team from StoneAge. They were great at providing feedback and very receptive to new features we had proposed.

New Features

  • Experience selector

  • Home dashboard

  • Job logs list view

  • Job logs detail view

Results

Delivered high fidelity prototypes and user research to key stakeholders and demoed prototypes for StoneAge’s biggest client. Overall, I was extremely proud of this project for how quickly we collectively as a team worked together to build a new iOS, Android, and web app in just six weeks.

Learnings

  • The manufacturing business is extremely innovative and technologically advanced

  • When learning about an unfamiliar industry, it’s important to really put yourself in their shoes and experience how their day-to-day workflows play out
